BOOK NOTES---   The present volume contains selected papers from the 14th Conference of Abrasive Technology in China, which was previously called Grinding and Machining Conference in China (GMC). The conference is organized and co-organized by The China Committee of Abrasive Technology (CCAT), previously the Grinding Institute, of the China Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), College of Mechanical Engineering at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the Research Lab for Stone Machining at HuaQiao University. All of 117 technical papers in this volume were selected from over 300 papers submitted for the conference and reviewed by at least two conference organizers.
The volume contains the advances made in mechanics and control of processes, modeling and simulation, measurement and surface-quality assessment, cooling and coolants, polishing, wheel-truing and dressing, as well as novel techniques.
This book and others in the series represent China's serious effort to establish its own scientific background for processes used by its rapidly expanding manufacturing industry. Although China has grown dramatically over the last decade from technology acquired from other regions of the world, this research shows China's unique contributions to the field of abrasives technology.
