NOTES. The International Conference on Analysis, Control and Removal of Burrs documents the end of a three-year cycle of the CIRP working group on Burrs. In that cycle researchers and experts from industry contributed and gathered knowledge on research and industrial practices on burrs, edge conditions and part cleanliness. A CIRP round robin of participants in many countries compared methods of burr measurement. The conference brought together people from around the world to discuss the state of the art in research and industrial applications for a conference with a special workshop character. As the contents of this book reflects, the conference was a forum for intense exchange of concepts and methods, dissemination of technical breakthroughs, and discussion of future efforts. The conference program and this compilation of presentations covers a spectrum of topics ranging from standards for burr description and classifcation to the mechanics of burr formation for modeling and simulation to burr control and deburring strategies. Materials include a keynote presentations by Prof. Dornfeld from UC Berkeley, USA, Prof. Biermann from TU Dortmund, Germany, Berger from Daimler, Germany, and Dr. Martinsen from RTIM, Norway, each giving a unique insight into research, industrial applications and the economic impact of burrs upon industry. |
